Scorekeeper Guide

Entering Scores

Quick guide for scorekeepers on how to enter and manage game scores during tournaments.

1. Accessing the Scorer

There are several ways to access the score entry interface:

Director Portal

When assigned as a scorekeeper, go to the Director Portal to see your tournaments. Open a tournament and navigate to Scores or Manual Scoring.

Mobile/Tablet

Use a shared device at your court. The tournament director will set this up for you.

Tip: Bookmark the Scores page on your device for quick access during the tournament.

2. Finding Your Game

  1. Open Scores. Games are grouped by time slot; on a phone the slot on court now is marked
  2. Find your assigned court number
  3. Verify the teams match what you see on the court
  4. Tap Score on the game to open score entry

Game Status

  • Upcoming: Game hasn't started yet
  • In progress: Game is being scored live, point by point
  • Completed: Game has finished and the score is recorded

3. Entering Scores

  1. Tap Score on the game you're scoring
  2. Tap the team that won
  3. Tap the other team's score. The result saves right away
  4. Check the message that appears, e.g. "Baldur beat Smugglers 21–16". Picked the wrong winner? Tap Swap

Score Entry Methods

Depending on the tournament format, you may enter scores differently:

Single game

Winner first, then the other team's score. If time ran out before the winner reached the target, change the winner's score before tapping the other team's.

Live, point by point

Tap Score it live, then +1 for each point so the TV and dash follow along. The game ends when a team reaches the target, or tap Time's up to end it at the current score.

Best-of sets

Enter each set's points for both teams. Sets won are worked out for you; tap Save score when you're done.

Double-check the result! While scores can be fixed later, it's best to get them right the first time. Ask team captains to confirm if you're unsure.

4. Editing Scores

Made a mistake? Here's how to correct scores:

  1. Tap the score on the finished game
  2. Tap Swap winner if the teams are backwards
  3. Or pick the new result the same way: winner, then the other team's score
  4. Or tap Clear score to start over

5. Tips for Scorekeepers

Stay focused on your court

Keep track of the score throughout the game, not just at the end. It's easier to verify if you've been watching.

Enter scores promptly

Submit scores as soon as the game ends. This keeps the tournament running smoothly and updates standings in real-time.

Confirm with team captains

When in doubt, ask both team captains to confirm the final score before submitting.

Report issues immediately

If you can't access the scorer or something seems wrong, let the tournament director know right away.

Troubleshooting

Can't find my game

Make sure you're in the correct tournament. Go to the Director Portal home page to see your assigned tournaments. If still missing, ask the tournament director to verify the schedule.

Score won't submit

Check your internet connection. If the page is frozen, try refreshing. Your entered data should be preserved. If you see a "Read-only" banner, the tournament has been completed or archived and scores can no longer be changed. Contact the tournament director if corrections are needed.

Entered wrong score

Look for an edit button on the completed game. If you can't edit, find the tournament director immediately so they can correct it.

Teams look wrong

Verify you're scoring the correct game by checking team names against the physical teams on the court. If there's a mismatch, notify the tournament director.
